Ok, ok- so admittedly I might be a bit above the intended age bracket for the Biebs but I dont really care. His songs are catchy, hes pretty talented (like it or not) and I LOVE getting to see artists perform that I’ve never seen (or that I have seen. I just really love concerts!). So, when Siobhan and I toyed with the idea of buying Justin Bieber tickets last year I was on board. Saturday was the big day so we met up early at my house to hit the road.

There were three things things road trip needed to be:

1. Inexpensive

2. Healthy

3. Fun (obviously)

We were both on budgets this weekend- me because I have a plane ticket to buy this week and Siobhan because she just found out shes going to be a mom!!!! We were definitely in agreement that we needed to keep things as inexpensive as possible while not sacrificing healthy choices. Luckily just 20ish minutes of research found tons of good options for food. We were set! Greensboro in only a couple of hours away so we were in beautiful North Carolina before we knew it!

Our first stop was lunch at Liberty Oak downtown. I had actually been here once before and wondered if it would live up to that first experience…..and it did! Liberty Oak is a cute little restaurant with a casual “ladies who lunch” kind of feel to it. It reminds me of some local spots here in town and I liked it immediately.

The lunch menu is full of soups, salads, sandwiches, and wraps. I really wanted to try something else this go around but the Havana Wrap was calling my name..again. The mango marinated pork is the perfect pairing for the organic greens and black bean salsa. Delicious! The icing on the cake is that we both made it out for under 12.00. (Score 1 for healthy and budget friendly!)

After lunch we had some time to kill before checking into our hotel so we were off for a little shopping. Mostly it was just window shopping. I admired this monster Hello Kitty bling. Hehehe.

We also got in a little workout trekking all three floors of the mall!

I also may or may not have put a slight dent in my Belk gift card. But, I think this is a pretty rad haul for $19.00!

After checking into the hotel we totally caught a quick nap. (Wild and crazy right?) ;) However, we were up in less than an hour getting ready for the main event! Justin Bieber!!!!

We bought our tickets AGES ago for the face value price 39.00. The sweet mom next to us spent $500 on her pair of tickets for her little girl! These were definitely 39.00 seats so my heart really went out to her. Ive spent over face value many times (helloooo Maroon 5 Im talking to you!!) but its never been a markup like that. Also notice the time is 7:00 on the tickets, Ahem. Yes, we didnt arrive until MUCH later but lets back up.

Siobhan and I got ready and headed out for the night. I was super excited to use the beautiful sapphire Michael Kors wristlet that the hubs had given me as one of my Birthday gifts.

Our first stop was dinner at The Iron Hen. The concept, according to what we read, is that Iron Hen is a farm to table joint who specializes in fresh local foods at a decent price. Win!

Every meal comes with a deviled egg (LOVE). So, I chose a chicken salad sandwich. I could tell everything was of good quality but I hated it. Im a weirdo about chicken salad and should have known better. It was just no what I was expecting/wanting. Id love to go back and try something different.

After dinner we realized it was creeping up on 8:00 so we zipped over to the venue. We thought it was a bit weird that right at 8:00 on the nose we were the only people pulling in, the guards waved us through without charging us for parking and we had to park approximately one million miles away. It turns out the show actually started at 7:00 Ahem. Oops! Thankfully, he had two opening acts and we only missed the first one (someone we’d never heard of anyway). Our little mistake actually turned out to be a bonus! We were really pumped to get settled inside and find our seats!

And as for the show…..well we loved it of course! Justin was an awesome entertainer and he even covered an Usher song. We did feel OLD when none of the teens around us were singing along with that one. Ahem. But, even still it was a fun time. I also may or may not have lost my mind a little when he sang Girlfriend. And dare I say it? Im digging all of his tattoos. It was totally an experience we will always remember!

To round out the night we had to wait almost a solid hour to wade through the wall of fans to get outside. It was insane.

But all is well that ends well. We were cracking ourselves up the entire ride to the hotel. It was a good night for sure and Justin Bieber just might have two new “Belibers” !! ;)

What is the last concert you saw?

Sounds like such a fun time!! And I totally have that Michael Kors bag, except in pink!! And I used it for the last concert I went to – which was Shania Twain in Vegas.
