Every weekend I have a big choice to make…. What will I have for my one weekly indulgence? I crave so much weird stuff during the week but when the day finally arrives I am never quite sure what to get. I used to literally make a day of it and just kind of do whatever my heart desired. I realize now I was probably eating a week’s worth of calories. So, over the months Ive been losing weight I have adopted a new Saturday plan–  ONE cheat meal, one desert and the rest of the day is business as usual. This keeps me on track AND helps me sustain good habits long term. I started my morning with an organic egg on whole grain toast and a V-8 Fusion.

Then after a quick walk it was off to Roanoke for a Birthday celebration with one of my best girls! The weather on the drive up was beautiful (on the way back not so much) but no complaints!

Kristen and I met up and got started on our girls day immediately. She chose Corn Beef and Company for her Birthday lunch so we moseyed downtown to get our lunch on. Isnt the Birthday girl looking fabulous?!

I havent been to Corn Beef and Company since a group of us girls stopped in for lunch last fall. I had forgotten about their epic onion rings but Kristen reminded me!

In staying with my eating plan we each only had a couple. Honestly that is all you need. Check those bad boys out.

I am definitely inspired to try a baked “fake out” of onion rings as these are totally not something to eat often. Next was the task of choosing lunch.

This is our second outing in a row where we got the same exact thing. This joint is kind of known for their warm sloppy deli sammies. We both chose the 6oz of Roast Beef, Havarti Cheese, and Roasted Red Peppers on an onion roll.

As delicious as it was I didnt make it very far before I was full. Totally yummy though!

I hated to not box it up but I wasnt sure it would make it through a warm-ish car for an entire day. Eh! After lunch we headed right over to the movies to see “The Lucky One”

Helllooooo Zac Effron all grown up and hot. Good Gravy! I used to joke on Kristen for her love of this ex child actor gone the way of hottie but I am on board now 110%. And as for the movie–  Its exactly what you expect from a Nicholas Sparks film; beautiful setting, unlikely romance, and a couple of heart string moments thrown in for good measures. No tears from me though…maybe Im a little dead inside from everything thats been happening lately in my world–  who knows? But truly the only advice Id have given on this flick is less shirt and more abs Zac. Whew! Its a fun movie to see with the girls but your man will hate it. Consider yourself warned! After the movie we piled into the car and decided to get some shopping done.

We kind of crack ourselves up when we wear the same watch or shoes. A photo is a must!

So speaking of splurge day….Ahem. We headed into Macys for eye shadow. Seriously that was it. We poked around the store and then I spotted it…..I literally squealed when I saw it and ran over to it like a little kid. It was a beautiful metallic rose gold Michael Kors satchel. *swoon*

Kors

It was love at first sight. However, I am not one to enter into a major purchase lightly so Kristen and I went to a couple of other stores, picked up a few small things, and headed back to *the* bag. After touching it, carrying it (well as much as I could with it locked down to the counter), and admiring it I decided to treat myself. It turns out there was a pre-sale going on for Friends and Family week so I got it for 25% off!!!! Score! The only catch is it was a pre-purchase and I will pick it up next week. (I cant make it until Friday but shes all boxed up and waiting for me). Its love!

Thanks for being my model K!! Since this pretty much wiped me out in terms of shopping it was time to call it a day. We posed one last time in our new TJ Maxx finds of the day (Jessica Simpson shades for 12.00?? Yes Please!) and went our sperate ways-Kristen back to her husband and babies and me back to Lynchburg visions of metallic MK dancing in my head! Oh and I never did get that darn eye shadow!

I grabbed a quick healthy Panera dinner on the way home.

I am making it my mission to replicate that soup. YUM! On tonight’s agenda hotel booking, flight finding, and trip planning for the hubs and I to head to NY for Siobhans wedding. I cant wait!!

What is your favorite splurge (both food and purchases)?

I love Zac!! And those onion rings look delicious! Sounds like a fun day!

I like the idea of a cheat meal – I fall into the same trap of a cheat day really derailing me…
