I have B I G changes coming to the blog as of 1–1–12 but for now we can just stick with business as usual. Work has been a beast this week but I like to think this will make me enjoy my Christmas Vacation even more. Thats what is getting me through tomorrow actually-that and that alone. Ha! In all fairness, its just been one of those weeks. They come and they go. Luckily, I had an amazing time last weekend so I was able to start said crazy week off on the right note…literally.
I love that Christmas is nearly here. The weeks before Christmas are filled with getting together with extended family and friends that you can’t be with for the “main event”. Since my friend Siobhan will be spending her real holiday in NYC we had our own friend celebration over the weekend. It always makes me smile when someone knows me well enough that my gift is perfect. Siobhan got me a new Nike shirt for running, some awesome green yoga shorts, and a yummy smelling candle. I picked up a wine rack and Gossip Girl for her. It was a win on both ends!
After our super quick breakfast gift exchange it was off to NC. We had purchsed tickets a few months ago to see Mama Mia. A musical featuring ABBA songs?? Um yes please!
We jammed out to the movie soundtrack in the car for most of the drive. I dare you to sing Dancing Queen at the top of your lungs and not smile!! It cant be done.
Naturally, since we were seeing Mama Mia, a musical set in Greece, we decided to have Greek food for lunch. Ok, this was actually an accident. I had joked that morning that we *needed* Greek food for lunch or the whole day was ruined. When we stumbled upon a little place in the shopping center serving up Greek platters we decided it was meant to be.
I promise there is a little bit of lamb hiding in all of those veggies. I dont think I even made it 1/3 of the way through this monster platter but some of that might be my technique. I tried to “knife and fork” my gyro. Apparently, thats wrong and you are supposed to shove it in your mouth taco style. Who knew? Umm I guess Siobhan did.
The musical was AMAZING and the best part is they re-sing Mama Mia AND Dancing Queen at the end so everyone can get up to sing and dance their hearts out. It was pretty fun seeing all ages up singing and shaking their groove things. The only exception was the couple next to us who were too cool to sing. Thats ok though, we sang loud enough for them and us!
Being done with all of my Christmas shopping for weeks now (more on that tomorrow) gave me the prefect excuse to do a little shopping for myself while we were in NC. This is the time of year that stores love to send random coupons…and I love to use them. Plus, who can resist a 3 story mall?
I kept myself on a pretty tight budget ($50.00) and walked away with some excellent deals…..

A new infinity scarf in a fun mosaic print from American Eagle (Ive been jonsing for something in this print)….
And some pink ballet flats (not pictured). Pretty fabulous for $50.00 I think! The main point of Saturday was a fun Christmas celebration with one of my best girlfriends. Mission Accomplished!
How do you like to celebrate with friends that you might not see over the actual holidays?
My friends and I are all over the country so we never get to celebrate but we send gifts and cards. It’s always a nice surpise to come home from work and receive some mail and if we dont do that, we’re sure to get a long phone call to catch up!
