Voila!

I’m going to be brutally honest here…Bagged dinners are usually not my thing. I love creating meals from scratch, controlling the ingredients, and monitoring the calories. It is also worth mentioning that because of this I have not made a “meal in a bag” in probably ten years. It turns out I have been missing out!

As part of the TasteMaker program over at Foodbuzz I was given the opportunity to try and review a Bird’s Eye Voila meal. I thought what better time to try it than after a SUPER long Monday at the office!

Voila is a complete meal that can be cooked and on your table in around ten minutes. There are over a dozen varieties to choose from. Voila starts with Bird’s Eye veggies, adds a noodle or pasta of some kind and then tosses in some beef, chicken, or even shrimp. While I am normally a chicken kind of gal the “Beef Lo Mein” sort of spoke to me at the store and I knew I wanted to give it a go!

These meals could literally not be any easier to make. You simply pour the contents of the bag into a sauce pan, cover, and cook on medium high heat while stirring occasionally.

I loved the fact that not only was there zero prep time but there was zero clean up as well. You’ve got to appreciate that on a super busy work night.

I started getting my hopes up for a good meal when the smell of the beef, noodles, and sauce started making its way through my house!

Luckily Voila did not disappoint. The noodles were soft, veggies had crunch, and the beef was tender.

I would definitely use this product again though next time I might wilt in some spinach or serve it along side a spicy arugula salad. YUM! Oh and an added bonus was the calorie count as this meal clocked in at 230 calories and 3 grams of fat.
